Cheryl A. Guthman a former secretary for two law firms operated in a far more methodical manner and was sentenced to two years and six months in prison for stealing over $200,000 from clients.
Cheryl A. Guthman, 50, of Elyria, received her punishment Nov. 6 from Lorain County Common Pleas Judge John R. Miraldi.
Guthman pleaded guilty Sept. 21 to 13 counts of theft and four counts of tampering with records for the theft of $224,102.37 from clients of Smith, Illner and Gemelas Co. LPA and Rothgery and Associates.
Prosecutors said Guthman used the money to send her children to private school as well as other things
