George Latimer, former St. Paul mayor and Hamline Law School dean, passes

It is with sadness that we recognize the passing of former Hamline Law School dean and longtime St. Paul mayor George Latimer on Sunday, August 18. He was 89.

Prior to serving as the dean of Hamline University School of Law from 1990 to 1993, George Latimer was the longest serving mayor of St. Paul from 1976 until 1990. Following his time at Hamline, Latimer worked as a special adviser to President Bill Clinton’s Department of Housing and Urban Development.

In 2015, Hamline University School of Law merged with William Mitchell College of Law to form Mitchell Hamline School of Law.

We extend our deepest condolences to George’s family and friends.
