Claudia Mo was born in Hong Kong. Before her election to Hong Kong’s Legislative Council in 2008, Claudia worked for Agence France-Presse as chief Hong Kong correspondent and as a columnist for The Standard and TVB in Hong Kong. In January 2021, Claudia was among 53 persons arrested in Hong Kong under a new National Security Law.

She and 46 other co-defendants have been in custody since February 28, 2021, charged with conspiracy to commit subversion for having allegedly organized and participated in unofficial primary elections in July 2020 for an upcoming Legislative Council election. Their case has now been sent to the High Court and the trial (or trials) are expected to take place later this year.  If convicted, the defendants could face life in prison.
