UK firm Freshfields have given its Australian and NZ lawyers the heads up about how to remain in the UK..if..by any chance.. they might happen not to have a job soon.

In a rather ominous move, Freshfields has emailed all its Australian and NZ lawyers with a helpful reminder of how to remain in the UK if, just if, they were to lose their jobs. It has also brought in immigration advisers for a Q&A session.
A spokesman for the firm denied that there was anything sinister in this, and said that it was simply alerting staff to forthcoming changes in visa requirements. He added that the firm had no current redundancy plans and that it was simply doing the right thing by keeping staff informed of changes in their status.
