Freshfields Has New Managing Partner In Asia

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringerhas announced the appointment of Robert Ashworth to the role of Asia regional managing partner. The position was previously held by Simon Marchant who will be returning to the firm?s corporate practice in London.

Rob brings over 16 years of experience in China to the role. He is well known in Asia as one of the leading M&A and private equity practitioners in the region and has led the Freshfields corporate practice in Asia since 2000. The appointment takes effect on 1 February 2011 and reflects the firm?s strong commitment to the continued development of its business in the Asia region.

Commenting on the appointment, Freshfields? senior partner, Will Lawes, said: ?We?re very grateful to Simon for the excellent job he has done for us in Asia and we?re pleased that Rob will be taking on the role.
