Former Makarim MP, Hiswara lawyer launch new Indonesia firm

Lia Alizia (L), a former partner at Makarim & Taira S, and Jonathan Toni Tjenggoro, previously a senior associate at Hiswara Bunjamin & Tandjung, have established a new law firm in Jakarta called Alizia & Partners.

Alizia brings more than 20 years of experience to the partnership, including a 13-year tenure as partner at Makarim, one of Indonesia’s prominent law firms. She previously served as managing partner of the firm, for six years.

The new firm will focus on employment law, litigation and dispute resolution, competition law, intellectual property, mergers and acquisitions, and restructuring and insolvency, among other practice areas.

Alizia has built a reputation advising multinational corporations on complex corporate negotiations, employment matters including mass terminations, and intellectual property enforcement. She is a registered sworn translator and serves on the central committee of the Indonesian Advocates Association (PERADI).

Tjenggoro specializes in competition law, mergers and acquisitions, investment and joint ventures, and real estate. He spent nearly a decade at Makarim & Taira S before moving to Hiswara Bunjamin & Tandjung in 2022, where he co-built the competition law practice.

His client base spans manufacturing, consumer goods, food and beverage, property, and healthcare sectors.

The launch comes as Indonesia’s legal market continues to attract international investment, with companies seeking local expertise to navigate the country’s regulatory landscape.
