Foreign & International Law Librarian / Lecturer in Law Vanderbilt University

DESCRIPTION: The Alyne Queener Massey Law Library at Vanderbilt University seeks a creative, energetic, and highly customer-oriented librarian to join our team. The Foreign & International Law Librarian will provide legal reference and research services, work closely with the international law faculty, and teach legal research classes in the first-year Legal Research & Writing program. The person in this position will also participate in the development of course materials and teach in upper-division legal research courses, and will develop instructional programs for international law faculty and the Jessup Moot Court. This position reports to the Associate Director for Public Services.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal reference and research services to students, faculty, the Vanderbilt community, and the public
  • Support faculty research, instruction, and publication through participation in the faculty liaison program
  • Teach legal research skills in the first-year Legal Research & Writing program
  • Develop course materials and teach upper-division legal research courses
  • Participate in collection development activities
  • Create and update online research guides, tutorials, and other web content
  • Maintain professional growth by participating in educational programs and activities to ensure knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments
  • Participate in the work of Law School and University Libraries committees
  • Perform related duties as required
Education/Experience: J.D. from an ABA accredited law school and M.L.S. or equivalent from an ALA accredited library school. Two years related experience preferred, but will consider entry-level candidates.

Job Related Skills: Substantial knowledge of legal bibliography and legal research process in both print and electronic formats. Expertise in foreign and international legal research. Teaching interest and ability. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong service orientation, and the ability to interact positively with law faculty, students, colleagues, and public patrons. Strong technology skills and knowledge of current trends in instructional and educational technologies.

Employer will assist with relocation costs.
