The Fji Uncensored blog is reporting…
Fiji’s Chief Registrar Ana Rokomokoti and seven others entered the Fiji Law Society Office on May 23rd and removed files and records.
Sources told the blog that the group, whose members were all dressed in plain clothes, made its entry before 6pm.
The report goes on to say..
The incident was also reported earlier on Intelligentsiya although Fiji Uncensored’s account has been confirmed by independent sources.
Fiji Uncensored also understands that a decree to nullify the law society is being drafted and may be introduced as early as Monday.
The Fiji Law Society has been a staunch critic of the regime, recently urging senior lawyers to reject posts offered by the military leadership, arguing that it would undermine the independence of the judiciary system and give legitimacy to the regime.
Law society members also launched protests in Suva and Lautoka soon after the 1997 Constitution was abrogated by President Ratu Josefa Iloilo.
