About us

The Solicitor-General is the Government’s most senior professional legal advocate and advisor. The Solicitor-General provides advice to the Government (primarily to the Ministers in the Justice Portfolio but also to the Premier and Treasurer) on high-level legal matters and appears in court in all jurisdictions as senior counsel in cases where the Government is a party.

About the role

As the Executive Assistant, you will provide key support to the Solicitor-General in the areas of secretarial support, schedule/diary management and the development and maintenance of office management and information systems to ensure smooth running of the Office.

This role is located in the barrister’s chambers so the appointee will need a solid working knowledge of public sector administrative processes and practices. As the Records Management Contact Officer for the office, this position encourages and supports good recordkeeping practices within the Office of the Solicitor-General.

The appointee requires a willingness to adjust hours of work at short notice to respond to emerging needs and to fit in with the Solicitor-General’s timetable and the needs of the Office.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • proven ability to provide high-level legal secretarial services and confidential services
  • have well developed interpersonal, communication, organisational and legal research skills
  • extensive experience using the Microsoft office suite particularly Microsoft Word
  • experience at handling large volumes of confidential information.

Demonstrated experience in managing library resources (especially a law library) would be valuable.
