E&Y has hired former Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) Singapore partner John Dick as a partner to lead the venture. The plan, as we understand it, is to set up a local law firm in Singapore, which will then become part of E&Y’s global services network.
Dick was the latest in a string of legacy Freehills lawyers to have left the firm in Singapore. It was the only jurisdiction where both legacy firms had an office prior to their October 2012 merger.
Over the past year, the HSF Singapore base has been a less than happy place. With the bulk of the departures understood to be behind it, it’s a good time to move on.
