Do Mainland China Lawyers Actively Avoid Going To Court?

Interesting post by Stephen Blayney on the China Law Discussion list yesterday..

Blayney refers to the following link – ( Chinese readers only )

To an article from the All China Lawyers Association website discussing corruption in China’s judicial system.

Blayney writes:

The author seems to be saying that behind the ostensible judicial system (in localities across China) lies a corrupt shadow judicial system.  The existence of this shadow judicial system frustrates written decisions of judges.  The author says that because of the extensive rot in the judicial system many Chinese lawyers now try to avoid going to court.  The author says that clients often choose lawyers on the basis of their guanxi with judges/officials rather than their skills.
