DLA Piper have announced that…
they have appointed Martin David to run their Singapore office and head the firm’s finance and projects group in Asia.
As the managing partner of the Singapore office, he will be in charge of nine partners, which includes recent hire, India specialist Biswajit Chatterjee.
David has worked in Asia for 16 years.

….which means that he has worked with clients through an entire economic cycle: from the banking boom of the early nineties to the crash of 1997. His geographical experience in the region includes Thailand, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Singapore and India.
David’s area of expertise in banking includes structured finance, project finance, energy mergers and acquisitions, and construction law. Much of his experience has been related to advising investment and commercial banks, as well as corporates and sponsors, on high-value transactions.

Before joining DLA Piper, David spent 10 years as a project and finance partner at Linklaters’ Singapore office. He is qualified as a solicitor in both England and Wales, as well as in Hong Kong. A civil engineering graduate of the University of Birmingham, he retrained as a solicitor after acquiring some experience as an engineer and joined Linklaters in 1987.
