The primary function of the Law Library is to support the teaching and research activities of the law school community, which consists of approximately 800 J.D. and 100 non-J.D. students, 45 full-time faculty members and 70 support staff. The Hofstra law faculty is recognized as one of the most productive in the country.
The Law Library has long been committed to a specific philosophy: providing the highest quality of service to the law faculty and students, emphasizing service over collection size.
The Director of the Library at Hofstra Law has faculty status and is appointed on a continuing appointment track with rank commensurate with experience and qualifications. This may include, but does not require, appointment to the tenure-track faculty, depending on the interests and experience of the successful candidate.
Qualifications: A J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school and an M.L.S. (or equivalent) from an ALA-accredited program are required. The successful candidate must have at least five years of experience in an academic law library with supervisory experience as well as excellent leadership and communication skills. Hofstra University is an equal opportunity employer, committed to fostering diversity in its faculty, administrative staff and student body, and encourages applications from the entire spectrum of a diverse community.
