Director, Business & Legal Affairs (Asia-Pacific)
 
The Role:
Reporting to the Vice President, General Counsel of Activision Blizzard UK Limited, the Director, Business & Legal Affairs will provide general legal and compliance support for Activision?s APAC businesses.  The successful candidate will play the lead role in advising on all aspects of APAC legal matters.  Specifically, these responsibilities include managing Activision?s Asia-Pacific intellectual property portfolio (e. g. assisting in the filing of copyright and trademark applications in the People?s Republic of China and other relevant territories) and providing legal support for marketing, sales and public relations initiatives.  Additionally, this individual will be the initial point of contact for all employment matters and commercial contractual matters for the APAC business. As part of the role the individual would work as part of the regional management for the business and also be part of the global legal team (i.e. work collaboratively with International legal team based primarily in the UK and also the US based legal team) and act as the prime point of contact internally for instructing outside and managing outside counsel (as needed), in a cost effective manner.  This role also involves helping develop and implement internal policies and best practices, including FCPA, code of conduct for suppliers, and human resources.
 
This position will be located in Shanghai. Candidate must have the ability and willingness to work in Shanghai, China.
Desired Skills & Experience

Preferred Qualifications:
Chinese law degree
Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English
Minimum 7-10 years transactional experience at prominent law firm and/or internet/entertainment company
Ability to work in our Shanghai office
Applicants may include native Chinese speakers currently working outside of China who are willing to relocate to Shanghai
Applicants should indicate if a work permit is required
Law firm and in-house experience preferred
Experience in cross border matters, including in civil and common law systems
Expertise in managing complex partner relationships
Expertise in PRC laws governing internet/entertainment industries; familiarity with such laws in other APAC territories
Thorough knowledge of all areas of IP law, including trademark and copyright law
Local commercial contract  and employment /labor law experience
Awareness of local consumer / competition law for the APAC territories
