DetailsThe College of Law Library is seeking applicants for a temporary Daytime Legal Reference Specialist
General Description: The Daytime Legal Reference Specialist is responsible for providing legal reference service to Law Library patrons, including students, faculty, staff, attorneys, and the general public. The position also assists the librarians with in-depth legal research projects, including the People’s Law Library of Iowa project. In addition to providing reference service, the Daytime Legal Reference Specialist assists Circulation Department and Resources Management and Services Department staff in finding materials, works on data clean-up projects, provides occasional library tours, and updates research guides on assigned topics. The Daytime Legal Reference Specialist also assists with circulation services and other tasks as needed. The hours for this position are Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:30p.m. There are regular break times and a 30-minute lunch period within these hours. This is a temporary position from the middle of January 2022 – the end of August 2022.
Education Requirement: JD from an ABA-accredited law school.
Required Qualifications: Sound knowledge of legal resources and legal research methods. Experience in conducting legal research. The ability to work effectively with multiple constituencies, including students, faculty, staff, attorneys and members of the public.
Salary: $30 per hour
Schedule for temporary appointment: 40 hours per week, January 11, 2022 – August 27, 2022 (excluding University holidays or days the Law Library is closed).
