A federal judge in Maine paused Copan Italia SpA’s four-year legal fight with Puritan Medical Products Co. over patents for virus-testing swabs until Puritan’s twin appeals of a rejected dismissal bid—in which Puritan had argued a federal law’s immunity provision protects it from such suits—are resolved.
