Contract Jobs Go At Lexis Nexis Charlottesville Office

Came across this interesting post and reply this morning at "cvillenews.com" a website that provides news for the town.

In the scheme of things it isn’t a major development but we do wonder, if the comments are correct.

Why? At this time would the company be adding upper and middle management positions

LexisNexis Layoffs?

A friend at LexisNexis tells me of layoffs there, announced today. Can any victims (or survivors) give us a sense of the scope of this?

I am semi-reliably informed by coworkers that no regular employees got the axe today, but a number of temps and contractors, some of whom have been working with the company for nearly a decade, had their contracts terminated (presumably with extreme prejudice).
However, there are a number of layoffs of regular employees in the works that were announced last year.
Surprisingly, this has not stopped them from adding several new middle and upper management positions (although others, but not as many as have been added, h
ave been cut).
