We are currently looking for a permanent full time Content Specialist to join our Content and Communication team.

About the role

The Content Specialist is an integral part of the Content and Communications team producing multi-media content for Law Society members as well as the public. This is an all-rounder role, where you will plan, create, produce, sub-edit and finalise multi-media content for the Law Society Journal (LSJ), e-communications, Law Society websites, ad hoc publications, and other digital platforms for the Law Society of NSW.

What you’ll be doing

  • Generate strong editorial ideas for content relevant to our diverse membership.
  • Generate high-quality, regular content across all communication channels.
  • Develop news, features, profiles and other stories that place the Law Society’s publications at the forefront of legal journalism.
  • Consistently contribute strong ideas for stories and the continual evolution of the LSJ and other publications.
  • Be an integral part of the content team in the production cycles of the suite of print and electronic publications.
  • Write, sub-edit and proofread across all sections of the LSJ, e-communications and websites.
  • Assist with commissioning of content from external contributors and the management of key relationships, including Law Society partners.
  • Drive the production of multi-media content including podcast and video.
  • Edit, sub-edit and proof content created within the Content and Communications team and other departments within the Law Society.
  • Attend events with a view to reporting on them and developing networks and story ideas.
  • Ensure accurate, timely and efficient flow of print and digital production work to meet deadlines as required.
  • Be an integral part of the LSJ production process team, editing in Word and InDesign and contributing to the creative design and layout process.
  • Assist with the management and production of electronic and digital communications.
  • Grow the Law Society’s digital, video and podcast content library for diverse audiences.

 

About you

  • At least five years’ experience as a content professional working in print and/or digital media or marketing.
  • Journalism, Media, Marketing or Communications degree.
  • Law degree or interest in the law is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of the NSW and Australian political and legal systems.
  • Experience in writing, editing, sub-editing and proofing.
  • Experience in magazine production using InDesign.
  • Experience in podcast and video production.
  • Content all-rounder with generalist training.
  • Exceptional team player.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Outstanding digital literacy, including expertise in social media metrics and search engine optimisation (SEO).
  • Impeccable attention to detail.
  • Initiative and creative flair.
  • Strong interviewing and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Experience in working to tight deadlines.
  • Publications design and layout skills, including intermediate skill level with Word, InDesign, WordPress and Pardot.
  • Project management skills.
  • Ability to use clear, concise language in correspondence.
  • Ability to plan and organise self and others to ensure the timely completion of tasks.
  • Ability to structure, engage and present information clearly and interestingly to various audiences.
  • Confident self-starter and ability to think creatively.
  • Excellent communication skills.
