The Ticketing Manager will work remotely and in-person during the Burning Man event in Nevada. This temporary (April 2023 – April 2024) position will primarily focus on project & data management, communications, and documentation.
The ideal candidate for this role will have 1-5 years experience in event ticketing and/or box office management.
This role will be partially based on-site; the candidate should be comfortable with camping, being desert ready, and able to pitch in with light manual labor as it relates to setting up/taking down, and maintaining camp, personal, and shared office spaces.
Off playa: this role is expected to maintain an online presence 10:00am – 6:00pm PT, Monday – Friday
On-playa: hours will fluctuate

This is a temporary, exempt, full-time role, running April 2023 – April 2024. The role will be primarily remote with one month required on site in the Black Rock Desert in Northern Nevada (approximately mid-August through early-September).

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
PERCENTAGE OF TIME SPENT
Project & Data Management (35%)
- Manages internal ticketing programs and products including their respective policies, processes, internal/external partnerships, technologies, documentation, training, communications, managing staff, and user support.
- Provides ticketing information to various collaborators for reporting out to internal and external audiences such as but not limited to global conferences, government agencies, internal customers, and emergency requests.
- Synthesizes ticket use and scan data to aid internal teams in their future planning, including, but not limited to, usage patterns and operational scope and staffing.
Communications Coordination (30%)
- Coordinates communications plans in partnership with Communications, Philanthropic Engagement, Technology, and the Office of the CEO.
- Authors all public facing ticketing communications.
- Collaborates with the Ticketing Coordinator to ensure that participant support documentation is in line with all other ticketing communications.
- Maintains departmental websites and frequently asked questions pages.
- Coordinates with stakeholders to ensure communications include their input and are finalized on time.
- Contributes to email campaign strategies, assembles and prepares data sets for targeted audience mailing lists, executes sending of campaigns through email automation platform.
- Maintains departmental documentation, SOP creation, and archiving.
Box Office Administration (10%)
- Maintain Ticketing & Box Office email lists and aliases.
- Acts as Associate Box Office Operations Manager on playa; helps to manage the 24-Hour Box Office operations in conjunction with the Head of Ticketing & Box Office.
- Leverages past year’s data to help establish upcoming year’s anticipated volume and flow at Box Office.
- Manages the Box Office Personnel Manager.
- Responsible for supporting the Personnel Manager with staff lifecycle: on-boarding, shift scheduling, conflict resolution, and off-boarding.
- Support Box Office Personnel Manager in creating yearly training documentation, scheduling training sessions, and executing training.
Other Functions and Responsibilities (5%)
- Support Ticketing and Box Office specific volunteer teams as needed.
- Be familiar and act in accordance with Burning Man’s staff policies.
- Participate in team meetings, create reports, and maintain related correspondence.
- Stay up to date with email correspondence and departmental communications. Distribute any relevant information to team members and relevant parties in a timely fashion.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
LEARNING AND TEACHING
- Documentation – Assists in the creation, publishing, and maintenance of process documentation related to their assigned duties.
- Training development – Collaborates with the education team to develop training materials in their area of expertise, as requested.
- Learning – Pursues ongoing learning in their area of expertise, working to stay current on emergent knowledge, skills, and processes.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED
- 1-3 years of ticketing and/or box office experience.
- Ability to adjust schedule seasonally to work on-site at the Burning Man event held in Nevada.
- A motivated and meticulous approach to work and an eye for detail.
- Advanced knowledge of Google products (Sheets, Drive, Docs); ability to write formulas, develop and improve Google and Excel sheets.
- Experience with data management functions (entry, collection, analysis, distribution etc.)
- An analytical mindset with problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain personal integrity and uphold high standards of confidentiality.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; willingness to learn and proactively ask questions.
- Strong concentration; able to focus on details, execute multi-step processes, review and enter data accurately.

- It is helpful if the candidate has previously been to Burning Man and/or is familiar with its culture.
- Experience working in remote desert locations.

Compensation:
Individual compensation decisions are dependent on a variety of factors, including prior experience and geographical location. The anticipated salary range for this position is $70,000 to $80,000 annually.

- Off-playa: Work is primarily sedentary in nature; no special demands are required.
- On-playa: Work is primarily sedentary but will also include the need to find and meet with department representatives who may not be in the vicinity therefore, this could include walking or using some form of transportation. Some of the work will be in outside weather conditions and exposed to fumes or airborne particles, as well as possible extremes in temperature.
