Coleen Rooney’s Solicitor Hung Out At Nobu In London For Most Of Wagatha Trial … Vardy Not Pleased

Rooney’s barrister, Robin Dunne, said the allegations were “factually incorrect” and that Lunt originally booked into a “modest” hotel, but the wi-fi and shower were broken so he transferred to the Nobu, and only after Rooney’s agent scored reduced rates of around £229 for a £650 room.

Coleen Rooney’s solicitor has defended his luxury accomodation during the so-called Wagatha Christie trial.

Paul Lunt of Brabners stayed at the 5-star Nobu London hotel in 2022 while successfully defending the libel claim brought by Rebekah Vardy.

The High Court found it was “substantially true” that Vardy leaked Rooney’s private information to the press and ordered her to pay 90% of Rooney’s legal costs.

But lawyers for the pair returned to court this October after Vardy challenged Rooney’s £1.8m bill, which far surpassed the ‘agreed costs budget’ of around £570k.

Vardy’s barrister, Jamie Carpenter KC, described some of the items as “extraordinary”, picking out Lunt’s stay at the Nobu Hotel as a prime example. He said the solicitor incurred “substantial dinner and drinks charges as well as mini bar charges” and quipped that other lawyers would have had to “make do with the West End DoubleTree”.

Enduring interest in the Footballer’s Wives saga saw the allegations about Lunt’s stay splashed across the front page of The Sun on Monday (headline: “Blagatha – BECKY: IT’S CRAZY COL LAWYERS CAN BILL ME FOR MINI-BAR”).
