July 28: CML Recruitment (CML) has announced the launch of their Hong Kong office during February of this year. CML specialises in recruiting legal, accounting and IT professionals for law firms and financial services companies in Asia.
Here’s what their press release says and being a recruiter they are only too happy to tell us how wonderful everything is in the world of legal and finance..
The new office is headed up by Rob Green (Director Asia-Pacific, CML). Rob joined CML in March 2006 to oversee legal recruitment for the offshore jurisdictions. Over the next two years he successfully established CML’s legal recruitment department as a key industry player. Following his promotion to Vice President in May 2007, Rob became more active in running the business as a whole while continuing to develop and grow the legal recruitment team.
Originally from London, Rob completed his Diploma in Business and Finance from London Guildhall University and went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in International Marketing from the University of Greenwich. Following a short career in marketing, Rob joined one of the UK’s leading recruitment companies, Badenoch and Clark, as a Financial Services Recruitment Consultant in 2004. He left the company in 2006 and relocated to the Cayman Islands. Rob moved to Hong Kong in January 2009 following his promotion to Director of the Asia-Pacific region.
“Working from Hong Kong has allowed us to grow our business into the onshore market. We have worked hard over the past few months to further develop existing business relationships and forge new partnerships in Asia”, says Mr. Green, “This is a major step in the right direction for CML and our long term goals for the company. We fully expect to attract the best clients, the best candidates and the best consultants as we grow over the next few years”, he adds.
CML finds their competitive edge in providing a personal yet professional service committed to understanding the needs of their clients and CML’s role in helping them grow their business through adding expertise.
You have opened a new office in a new location during a time when most companies are downsizing. What was your motivation?
The move to Hong Kong has been in the pipeline since May 2008. Following careful due diligence and visits to a number of potential jurisdictions; we found Hong Kong ticked all the right boxes. Despite concerns over the financial impact, it has actually worked out to be a very good time for us to launch and familiarise ourselves with the market. It has generally been a quiet time for all our clients, new and existing, which has allowed for more face-to-face meetings. I feel our clients now understand us a little better and we know more about them, which will definitely work in our favour when the market picks up and they start recruiting again.
We are slowly but surely building a lasting foundation for our business and reputation here in Asia. Hopefully over the next few years we can realise our goal of being a major force in the Hong Kong legal and financial recruitment market.
