VOV News Vietnam is reporting that Vietnam wishes to boost legislative ties with Singapore..
The report reveals that Vietnam’s legislative body wants to increase the sharing of information and experience with its Singaporean counterpart in order to expand bilateral cooperation in a wider range, said a senior Vietnamese legislator.
The Vice Chairman of the Vietnam National Assembly, Nguyen Duc Kien, made the statement at his working sessions with the Deputy Speakers of the Singapore Parliament held during his official visit to Singapore from April 22-25.
He has proposed exchanging visits of the two countries’ legislators as part of efforts toward an increased bilateral cooperation in the field.
The report goes on to say
Mr Kien highly valued Singapore’s role in ASEAN and reiterated the country’s policy of promoting friendship and multi-faceted cooperation with ASEAN member countries.
He highlighted Singaporean businesses’ effective investment in Vietnam and affirmed active implementation of bilateral economic cooperation programmes between the two countries.
While in Singapore, Mr Kien and his entourage paid a courtesy visit to Singaporean President Sellapan Rama Nathan.
They held working sessions with Singaporean government officials, business representatives, and professors of Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, and attended a meeting between Singaporean members of parliament and voters.
The Vietnamese legislators learnt about the Singapore Parliament’s role in examining and deciding important national issues as well as policies and breakthrough measures Singapore has taken to achieve prosperity.
They also inquired into Singapore’s short and medium-term policies to overcome the crisis, its policies on urban housing and real estate business, management models, investment attraction incentives and law on human resource development and environmental protection.
