CLIG Talk: “The Psychology of Consuming Information Online”.

CLIG invites you to join Joanna Burkhardt, professor and Librarian at Rhode Island University, talk about “The Psychology of Consuming Information Online”.

In this talk, you’ll gain insight into how online users cognitively respond to and process information in the moment and how this affects later judgements. She’ll cover how the format of information and the initial emotional response and level of familiarity defines how the brain will store, and later access it. Professor Burkhardt will also cover some other psychological theories in relation to consuming information such as cognitive dissonance, heuristics, and biases. The psychological approaches our mind uses to process information will be covered alongside marketing tricks and online pitfalls.

Whether you want to better understand the clients you serve or you just love a deep dive into psychology, this event is not to be missed.
