Job Overview
The position of Information Officer requires an individual who can take on the responsibilities outlined below with minimal supervision.
The role is ideally suited to individuals seeking to extend their experience gained from working within a professional services or corporate environment at Information Officer level.
Who you will work with
The position sits within the Corporate Finance Information Office team. The direct report is to the Information Manager in Corporate Finance. Corporate Finance includes M&A and Private Equity.
What you will be responsible for
The Corporate Finance Information Service aims to ensure all internal clients (fee earning and business services) have access to information resources which meet the Firm’s business needs.
What you will do
Internal Knowledge Systems
• Develop expertise in the different knowledge systems.
• Ongoing maintenance, inputting when required and revision of such knowledge systems which include Contao wiki, the knowhow system, HighQ, iManage and the SharePoint intranet.
• Assist in projects relating to the development of and access to products using the internal knowledge systems eg the SPA clause bank and ACKCs (approved curated knowledge collections).
Deal Reviews
• Attend deal reviews to capture knowhow.
• Contribute to raising awareness of submitting knowhow.
Enquiries
• Handle a range of enquiries from internal clients to established service levels.
• Provide information which will enable internal clients to carry out legal research eg identify appropriate sources and provide assistance relating to using those sources when required.
• Liaise with the knowledge lawyers where appropriate.
• Deal with newsfeed requests.
Corporate Finance Intranet
• Maintain and act as the main point of contact for the Corporate Finance Intranet.
• Ensure content is up to date and readily accessible.
• Assist in the design and development of new products that will enhance ready access to knowledge eg topic guides.
Training on Corporate Research Resources
• Ensure internal clients are aware of all relevant information resources.
• Help identify training opportunities for existing clients and new joiners and contribute to their development and delivery.
• Design and run trainee induction.
• Liaise with the education team.
Projects
• Assist with projects aimed at improving access to and delivery of knowledge.
• Contribute to Bound Volumes Re-imagined to improve the capture of and access to deal history documentation.
• Participate in the Newsdesk competitor review.
Online Databases and Print Resources
• Assist in the testing of new online services and provision of feedback.
• Promote use of key Corporate external databases such as What’s Market, Perfect Information, Mergermarket and FromCounsel.
• Maintain the collection of hard copy and online reference texts.
M&A Toolkit (a client facing resource)
• Site administration and coordination (content and functionality).
• Organise uploading of new content. Promote content internally and on social media.

• Be a primary point of contact for internal clients with information needs.
• Have strong communication skills in order to confidently build relationships with internal clients at all levels in the Firm.
• Maintain the confidentiality of the Firm and its clients at all times.
Professional Expertise
• Bachelors degree or equivalent.
• Experience of working in a knowledge and information role within a law firm, preferably within Corporate.
• An interest or some experience in legal or commercial research to a very high standard.
• Experience of creating and editing web pages is required.
• Experience of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook required as well as good general technical skills in order to use and help maintain the various information systems and interfaces.
• Knowledge of iManage and online meeting and training platforms preferred.
