CILIP Article: Make the most out of your time at a Libraries Conference

As an academic librarian and recently-joined CILIP member, I felt unsure of my place at times before and during CILIP Conference 2023, but as I heard in parts of Jo Whalley (Coach and trainer/facilitator) and Jess Pawley’s (Knowledge & Evidence Specialist Somerset NHS Foundation Trust) talk, ‘Developing yourself as a Leader’, everyone feels imposter syndrome.

Here are a few of the things I did at CILIP Conference 2023 to get the most out of my time as a delegate and take advantage of the programme and networking opportunities.

Make a connection before the conference

As someone attending the conference with a FEDIP bursary, I took up the opportunity to be put in contact with another bursary holder before the conference and was lucky to bump into her on my way to the conference – knowing someone to talk to throughout an event is helpful.
