Chinese University fires Tiananmen crackdown scholar after Hong Kong gov’t rejects visa extension

The award-winning professor – who was in the US on sabbatical leave – said she was informed by the Immigration Department last week that her application had been rejected. Last Friday, CUHK notified He that her employment was “terminated immediately.”

He Xiao-qing, an associate professor at CUHK, told Ming Pao on Sunday that the Immigration Department asked her to submit supplementary documents one month after she filed an application for a work visa extension.
