This position will be based in SH and will report directly to the Legal & Compliance Head for Life Insurance Ltd in SH. The position will report on a matrix basis to the Chief Counsel for International Expatriate Benefits based in Philadelphia, PA and Claymont, DE, and the head of Asia Pacific Expatriate Benefits based in Shanghai. Specific Responsibilities:????? ?? Provide counsel and advice to? International Expatriate Benefits business and the individual private medical insurance business in China.Provide counsel and advice to International healthcare businesses outside China on China related matters.???? ??? Manage day-to-day transactional work, particularly in support of Underwriting, Sales and Client Management teams.? Perform jurisdictional analyses of new multinational business and advise the business regarding the same.? Draft business agreements and review drafts of customers? business agreements to ensure alignment with business objectives and compliance requirements.???? ?? Complete careful and timely legal research and maintain an in-depth knowledge of significant laws, regulatory determinations and litigation affecting the company?s business.? Advise on business practices and procedures to minimize legal risk from the same.?????? ?? Review proposed insurance products for contractual accuracy and regulatory compliance.? Review Marketing Materials for resolution of legal, compliance and privacy issues.????? ?? Support and advise Service Operations on claim-related issues for medical, life, accident and disability matters related to international expatriate medical benefits and individual private medical insurance.? Support the establishment and maintenance of regulator relationships specific to health insurance and benefits.???? ?? Support privacy and data protection initiatives with research and analysis of applicable laws and impacted business processes.?????? ?? Coordinate compliance strategy and implementation in cooperation with Enterprise? Compliance Organization and Audit.Required Qualifications:? ???? Law Degree and active license to practice law.? ???? A minimum of five years of relevant legal experience in a major law firm and/or a company, but in either case focused on the financial services industry, preferably insurance, doing a variety of corporate, transactional or regulatory work. ???? Existing knowledge of health benefits regulation in China.Excellent legal skills and ability to apply law to business needs. A track record of success working effectively in complex matrix reporting????? structures across business lines and geographic borders.Understanding of political and regulatory environments. ? Experience in working with other corporate functions, in particular Compliance, Sales, Audit and HR. ???? Ability to travel within China and to the U.S. as needed. ???? Fluency in English and Mandarin, both in verbal and legal drafting skills.Preferred Qualifications:Experience in dealing with regulators, including lobbying for regulatory change or? relief.Work experience or past residency in locations outside of China.
