China Daily: Former vice-minister of justice under investigation

Former vice-minister of justice Liu Zhiqiang is being investigated for suspected severe violations of the discipline and the law, China’s top anti-corruption authorities said.

The investigation has been disclosed online by the Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision on Tuesday. No more details have been released.

Liu, 60, a native of Shandong province, started his career in 1984 and joined the Party in 1986. Public information shows that he handled foreign affairs in the Ministry of Public Security from 1984 to 2012.

Then, he went to Qinghai province to serve as the vice-governor of the provincial government and head of the provincial public security authority.

In January 2016, he became the deputy head of the Ministry of Justice.
