Employee Incentives 2025

Published on 26th February 2025

“To be profitable and drive business performance, companies need great people. Pay is fundamental to any employment relationship and will often play a material part in someone’s decision to stay in or leave a role.”  As confirmed by Sonia Gilbert, the guide’s Contributing Editor from Clifford Chance UK,  incentives “… play a significant role in motivating employees to perform at their best”, now more than ever. In the current competitive job market, it is essential to understand remuneration at work, which is the fundamental means used to recognise and praise the hard efforts, commitment and value of the workforce in every company. We hope this new Chambers e-guide serves as an informative tool to explore rewards, performance, and individual objectives, which can drive employees towards enhanced productivity, performance, and innovation within their organisations.

China claims almost the entirety of the South China Sea, through which a third of global maritime trade passes. Given that the USA is a treaty ally of the Philippines, the threat of conflict hangs over the islands. Moreover, with climate change increasing the severity of typhoons, the archipelago has had to cope with more and more strandings and oil spills in its waters and a corresponding increase in claims. The Philippines provides over 30% of crew to international ships. A new “Magna Carta for Seafarers” aims to strike a balance between the protection of seafarers and employers.

Intellectual Property Enforcement in Mexico

In this revelatory video, lawyers Manuel Morante and Diana Martínez of Arochi & Lindner provide an overview of how intellectual property laws are enforced in Mexico but also describe the country’s difficulties in prosecuting IP crimes because of loopholes, a lack of judicial precedent and weak local enforcement mechanisms. In the video, Morante and Martinez explain these and other challenges reporting, for instance, how, during the recent COVID-19 pandemic, the previous Mexican government would deprioritise checks and fines against counterfeit goods such as medicines and vaccines to be used against the virus. We are also informed that the election of a new presidential administration in the country might hopefully signify a positive shift in the prosecution of IP crimes by fighting piracy and ensuring reinforced protection for the economic interests of rights holders.
