CCH launches ?Australian Uniform Evidence Law? online

CCH have  announced the launch of Australia’s most up-to-date commentary on uniform evidence law.

Here’s their press release in full….

Australian Uniform Evidence Law is a streamlined online resource designed to keep barristers, law clerks, law librarians and the courts up to speed with implementation of the Uniform Evidence Acts around Australia. It is written by renowned Melbourne criminal defence lawyer Peter Faris QC and Professor Mirko Bagaric, Deakin Law School.

Managing Director of CCH Australia & New Zealand, Matthew Sullivan, said Australian Uniform Evidence Law covers all current jurisdictions and provides CCH customers with news alerts and access to an online case database. He said Australian Uniform Evidence Law subscribers can “cut to the heart of every key judgment” because they will be the first to know whenever important and intriguing judgments are handed down.

“Unlike other services, Australian Uniform Evidence Law updates weekly – not every three months,” Sullivan said. “With around 200 reported cases every year and key judgments handed down at any time, you need to know their impact fast. The expert authors are on the case to guide you, updating Australian Uniform Evidence Law with key case summaries online within three days.”

Co-author Peter Faris QC claims Australian Uniform Evidence Law gives CCH customers an understanding of implementation and interpretation of the Uniform Evidence Acts “without having to wade through lengthy judgments”. He said it is quicker and easier to get sharper insights into selected superior court cases through succinct summaries and catchwords and that key paragraphs are clearly identified.

“Users can access the full text of all current uniform evidence legislation for the Commonwealth, Victoria, NSW, ACT, Northern Territory and Tasmania instantly, with in-depth annotations following each section. And they can access it whether they are at their own desk or interstate. The hyperlinked index gets you to every section you need to find in seconds. We will also add Queensland and Western Australia if they introduce uniform evidence legislation,” Faris added.

Australian Uniform Evidence Law is the first major text of its kind to be written with an online focus from the outset, not simply an adaptation of a loose-leaf text, and has extensive hyperlinking. It costs $1650.00 (incl. GST) RRP and is available now – along with a range of other Legal and Regulatory online resources – from the CCH Australia Online Store.
