CCH Does Deal With Peking University To Provide English Translations of Chinese Laws

This week CCH announced a strategic alliance with Chinalawinfo, to provide? "quality" English translations of Chinese laws and the world's most extensive Chinese language legal database.

?

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed this week on behalf of each company by David Kelly, Managing Director of CCH North Asia and Qiao Congqi, General Manager of Chinalawinfo Co., Ltd.

"CCH is our natural partner as it's globally recognized and superior English full-text translations of Chinese laws complement Chinalawinfo's native Chinese language-based resources. It enhances Chinalawinfo's profile in developing international markets," said Qiao Congqi, General Manager of Chinalawinfo.

CCH China recently advanced its market leadership with the launch of China GOLD, providing the largest available database of translated Chinese legislation, regulations and notices. CCH's English language database is the most widely used and most respected among law firms and corporate counsel in China.

Our only comment is that an MOU may not be a tight enough vehicle for an long term agreement especially if a better deal comes along for China Law Info - we suggest Kluwer / CCH work on something somewhat more enforcable in the courts to keep alive.. .

The press release goes on to say...
