CB Resourcing have a new opportunity for a Business Researcher! The position works for a national law firm that has received multiple accolades in the past couple of years and it’s a role with a focus on research outputs that are primarily aligned to the firms strategic initiatives.
The position will be attached to one of the firms regional offices, but offers an extremely high degree of home-based work. There is a requirement to be available for quarterly in team meetings and to be available to visit regional offices if as when circumstances dictate. The position could suit someone established in a similar role, but equally, someone seeking to make a move to a more business research focused role from a broader information services position, would also be suitable.
Business Researcher – Law – Multiple UK Locations / Predominantly Home-based
A national law firm with considerable industry recognition in recent years has a requirement for a Business Researcher to join their team. This role serves lawyers with support in ongoing client work and pitching, but also serves to underpin some of the firms more strategic initiatives including marketing, competitor intelligence and business development. Specific research tasks are likely to focus on company or sector profiles, market research and monitoring competitor activity and capabilities. The firm has large team of knowledge, information and research professionals that are distributed across their UK sites and this role will be 90% home based with with quarterly team catchups. However, the role will require someone that can be attached to and occasionally commute to Bristol, Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh or Birmingham
In this Business Researcher role, the principal objectives and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- The provision of an enquiry led research service to support client work, marketing, business development and other strategic initiatives
- The production of outputs such as individual, sector or industry profiles, market research and competitor intelligence reports
- Contributing to the delivery of regular current awareness across the firms practice areas
- Building relationships with key stakeholders including lawyers, marketing and the business development function
- Acting as a Subject Matter Expert for the research resources available to the firm and the provision of ongoing to training to promote a self service culture
- Supporting the firms overarching knowledge management strategy by promoting a knowledge sharing culture and the processes that underpin this
To be a suitable candidate for this role, applicants will require a mix of the following skills and experience:
- Previous experience in a similar researcher role, preferably gained in a professional services, or ideally legal environment
- Refined business research skills utilising a variety of different resources and applying a strong methodical and framework driven approach
- Experience distilling data and information from a variety of sources into clear actionable reports, presentations or insight
- The ability to quickly grasp unfamiliar sectors, practice areas, processes and research resources
- The ability to forge strong relationships with different functions and stakeholder groups
- Experience working in a deadline driven environment and to manage conflicting priorities
- Highly refined interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- A relevant degree such as Library Science, Information Management or similar would be beneficial, but is not a pre-requisite
