Competitive Intelligence Researcher, law firm
Responsibilities include:
- Work closely with the Global Head of Research to help design and implement the Practice’s research and competitive intelligence strategy and associated products and services.
- Undertake and synthesise competitive research into insightful, analytical outputs using a range of internal and external information sources, specialised tools and market data.
- Develop and deliver research and intelligence products that take into account local requirements and preferences whilst retaining a common and global approach.
- Manage the day-to-day collection of competitive insights and intelligence for use on a request, project or program basis.
- Act as a subject matter expert and point of contact with regard to competitive research, keeping abreast of developments in the legal sector and wider business environment.
- Collaborate with Global Research colleagues and contribute to other research projects as needed.
- Set and maintain quality standards for research outputs and deliverables, gathering requester feedback on a continuous basis for input into the Practice and overall programs.
To be considered for this role you will need to have the following skills and experience:
- Bachelors Degree required. Post graduate qualification in an information, research or business -related discipline preferred.
- Proven track record of delivering research and competitive insights in a commercial or professional services organisation. Legal background strongly preferred.
- Minimum five years’ experience in a business research, strategic analysis and/or competitive intelligence role, with strong understanding of associated sources, techniques and technologies.
- Specialist knowledge of primary intelligence collection methods, desktop research and engaging with third-party agencies to deliver corroborated competitive insights with a high confidence threshold.
- Ability to interpret and translate business requirements into relevant research and competitive intelligence projects, products and services.
- Confident in scoping complex requests effectively and robustly, gathering feedback to ensure continuous improvement within an agile, high-performing project management environment.
- Understanding of, and ability to use, both qualitative and quantitative research methods, including financial analysis skills and innovative visual techniques to display information and data.
- Familiarity with effective business writing and structured thinking methodologies.
- Focused on drawing linkages between the research undertaken and the firm’s services and opportunities.
- Excellent understanding of the critical success criteria for a high-quality research and competitive intelligence function.
- Ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders and collaborate effectively with peers across practice areas and regions.
