A black attorney says he was kicked out of a California courtroom after being racially profiled by law enforcement for not wearing a suit — and got tased, arrested and convicted for the confrontation. Reports the NY Post.
Jaaye Person-Lynn was sentenced to a year of probation Friday after being found guilty of delaying and or obstructing a peace officer in the January 2019 altercation, local outlet KNBC reported.
The 38-year-old Los Angeles attorney said he’d gone to the clerk’s office at the San Bernardino County Courthouse on his day off to inquire about one of his client’s cases when he was confronted by deputies.
Video of the incident posted on Person-Lynn’s YouTube account shows the lawyer, dressed in casual clothing, trying to make his way toward the clerk before deputies push him back.
“I’m an officer of the court, I’m here to talk to the clerk,” Person-Lynn can be heard telling the cops.
