Ken McEwan and Paul Hardman attended the Central China Investment and Trade Exposition in Jiangxi Province, south-east China ? an event aimed at promoting foreign investment in the country?s central regions, which have a combined population of more than 350 million.
While at the exposition the pair signed a joint venture agreement? with two highly-respected law firms based in Jiangxi Province?s capital Nanchang.
The move, which was endorsed by state officials, is part of the growing links between the West Country and the province ? Bath and North East Somerset Council signed a formal friendship agreement with Jiangxi in October 2009.
Mr McEwan and Mr Hardman travelled at the invitation of GWE Business West, the business support and lobbying group which is aiming to further develop the area?s trade with China.
Gregg Latchams has seen increasing client demand for Chinese business expertise and was keen to develop professional contacts in China to help serve its UK clients who wish to trade there and to advise Chinese inward investment into the UK .
Mr Hardman said: ?We returned from China with an agreement which will help serve our clients? future needs. We have created a good base from which a relationship of trust and from that business can develop.?
