$70,000 – $76,600 a year – Full-time

Job Summary/General Purpose of Job

  • Responsible for the acquisition and development of ABA Publishing “flagship” line of books from title acquisition through development to Publication.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities (listed in order of importance and/or time spent)

  • Responsible for the acquisition and development of ABA Publishing “flagship” line of books from title acquisition through development to Publication.
  • Actively creates new product ideas, seeks authors, performs appropriate market research, and collaborates with the General Counsel’s office on negotiating and finalizing contract terms and conditions.
  • Develops proposals and manuscripts with authors.
  • Establishes, fosters, and partners Marketing relationship targeting optimized product exposure and maximization of sales of each title.
  • Develops communications related to new titles and creates product interest regarding new flagship titles to internal and external audiences.
  • Optimizes position title desirability and salability through collaborations and partnering with Marketing and Public Relations.
  • Works directly with Print Administration to shepherd titles through production and into print.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Required Education, Qualifications, Experience

  • Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited, four-year college or university.
  • At least three years of editorial, journalism, and/or writing experience.

Preferred Education, Qualifications, Experience

  • Possession of a bachelors’ degree from an accredited, four-year college or university with a concentration in English or Journalism.
  • Possession of a JD from an ABA accredited law school.
  • Previous publishing experience in specialized books, periodicals, or journals.

Typical office work environment.

Extent of Travel Required in the Job
As a normal course of business, this job will
typically require travel of up to 10% of the time.
