Bloomberg & Wiley Buddy Up Together

I think we may be seeing a mini consolidation in legal publishing. Last week it was PLC being swapped between hedge funds, this week Bloomberg have decided that it is probably best to piggyback off someone else’s content rather than wasting money developing more of their own.

Here’s the press release

Bloomberg Law today announced that it has added more than 60 books to its platform through an alliance with Wiley. The titles add significant new content to Bloomberg Law across a variety of legal practice areas that are experiencing significant growth and transformation, including corporate, IP, privacy, and cybersecurity.  With the licensing of these titles, more than 80 books from Wiley are available on the Bloomberg Law platform.

“This alliance with Wiley will provide our customers content from one of the most respected publishers of legal titles,” said Scott Mozarsky, President, Bloomberg Law.  “These books provide our customers with broader and deeper access to authoritative content across a number of key practice areas and by helping them create valuable connections between the business, legal, and financial markets.  We are continuing to add secondary content such as books and treatises to Bloomberg Law while at the same time maintaining our commitment to continually invest in data, analytics, practical guidance and other areas of Bloomberg Law.”

“Publishing our titles on the Bloomberg Law platform provides us valuable exposure within the legal community, said Ella Balagula, EVP of Knowledge & Learning, Wiley.  “Legal professionals using Bloomberg Law can look to Wiley’s trusted and timely books and treatises for their research needs and to intelligently counsel their clients.”

As with all enhancements to content and functionality on Bloomberg Law, these titles are available at no additional cost to subscribers.  Among the noteworthy titles added to Bloomberg Law include “Mergers, Acquisitions, and Corporate Restructurings” by Patrick A. Gaughan, “The Technical Interview Guide to Investment Banking” by Paul Pignataro, and “Startup Boards” by Brad Feld.
