World of Wonder Productions Inc. and Paramount Skydance Corp. can be held liable for trademark infringement and unfair competition claims in the midst of a name usage dispute between a professional drag performer and ex-adult film star, a federal district court said.
The studios behind RuPaul’s Drag Race failed to convince the US District Court for the Northern District of California that its use of the name “Lexi Love” is expressive and thus protected by the First Amendment, according to a Thursday order denying dismissal of the claims filed against them.
