BioNTech SE, a German joint venture partner to Pfizer Inc. on the Covid-19 vaccine, announced Monday that James Ryan will join its management board as chief legal officer on Sept. 1.
Ryan most recently was BioNTech’s general counsel and senior vice president of legal and intellectual property. He will continue to lead corporate legal strategy and global legal operations, including corporate governance, data privacy, insurance, IP, securities, and transactions, BioNTech said.
“BioNTech is entering a decisive phase in the company’s transformation,” said a statement from Ryan, who prior to joining BioNTech in mid-2018 served as head of legal affairs for London-based GW Pharmaceuticals PLC.
“As our pipeline candidates move into later stages of clinical development, we are working towards trials with registrational potential and focus on building commercial capabilities for potential market launches,” he said.
