Before joining Warner Records as evp and head of business and legal affairs in January – and helping the label strengthen its position in hip-hop – Petty enjoyed a brief career as a rapper himself before pursuing a career in music law, representing artists such as A Tribe Called Quest, Childish Gambino and the estate of the Notorious B.I.G.
