Beverly Hills attorneys make major donation to Loyola law school

Beverly Hills attorneys Gary A. Dordick and Nava Dordick have donated $8 million to the Loyola Law School to establish the Dordick Family Trial Advocacy Fund. In gratitude and recognition, Loyola Marymount University will rename the building housing its advocacy programs as the Dordick Family Trial Advocacy Center during a ceremony at 6 p.m. on Sept. 21.

“We are very excited about it,” Gary Dordick said. “I think it’s a tremendous honor that they agreed to use the funds for the Trial Advocacy Fund and are putting our name on the building. It stands for hard work, integrity and inclusivity.”

The Loyola Law School Dordick Family Trial Advocacy Fund will support the school’s award-winning advocacy programs, which provide students with real-world trial training and experience. The center houses mock courtrooms, where students litigate cases based on real-life situations. The innovative curricula are designed to foster ethical advocacy.

“Educating with purpose, LMU Loyola Law School is a premier law school in L.A. and the nation, and we are fortunate to have Nava and Gary as our partners,” LMU president Timothy Snyder said. “I am grateful for the Dordick family’s generosity and inspired by their vision for the future of legal education. This gift will have a transformative impact on our students, faculty and the expansion of our marquee advocacy programs.”

Nava Dordick, Gary’s wife, graduated from Loyola Law School in May. Their daughter Taylor Dordick is also a Loyola Law School alumna. The Dordicks’ gift will specifically establish a newly endowed fund for academic programming, scholarships, awards and faculty and staff support.

“We’ve had two family members graduate from there and I got to know more about their exceptional programs and wanted to be more involved,” Gary Dordick added.

Loyola Law School’s advocacy programs have been ranked in the top 10 nationwide by U.S. News and World Report, and the school’s Trial Advocacy Program was ranked fifth in the nation in 2023. Loyola Law School is ranked No. 60 in the 2023 U.S. News and World Report on Best Law Schools.
