Below is the announcement from Berkeley
Interesting that Rudd is presenting, especially so, as the current Australian government appears clueless ( in many things) but especially so in understanding how to deal with China. Maybe the cabinet should be sitting in on April 27th !
We will be hosting several programs on China IP and tech issues in the next several weeks that may be of interest.
On April 27, we are hosting our third annual Tech, Trade and China program. Keynote speakers are former Cal governor Jerry Brown and former Australian PM Kevin Rudd. The program is co-sponsored with the German Marshall Fund and the Asia Society of Northern California. We also have some other great speakers from IP, tech, trade and other areas, including former USPTO Director Iancu, retired CAFC Chief Judge Rader, retired ND Cal Judge Fogel, WIPO DDG Jorgenson, and many others . The program is free of charge and CLE credit is available. The agenda is here https://www.law.berkeley.edu/research/bclt/bcltevents/china-law-trade-and-ip-in-2021-a-multi-part-series-on-current-developments-in-chinese-law-with-a-focus-on-trade-and-the-tech-industry/agenda/
On May 7, we are hosting “Quantum Leap”, which will review, in condensed format, the remarkable past two years of IP developments in China. The program is free as well with CLE credit. https://www.law.berkeley.edu/research/bclt/bcltevents/china-ip-updates-a-review-of-the-numerous-and-far-reaching-ip-law-developments-in-china-over-the-past-year/
On May 13, we are hosting Angela Zhang to discuss her book on Chinese antitrust exceptionalism. I will be joined by Prof. Merges at Berkeley, and Hao Yuan, who is a former Tsinghua professor now a visiting fellow here. Our focus will be on tech and IP issues in China’s antitrust regime. https://www.law.berkeley.edu/research/bclt/bcltevents/angela-huyue-zhang-book-talk/
At the end of May, we will be launching a four-part series on IP developments in China, focusing on IP enforcement and developments in the courts and administrative agencies. Participants who desire a certificate for this program, or who are not from academic institutions, will need to pay a fee for attendance.
We are also hosting a free four-part series on standards essential patents/FRAND and antitrust with Prof. Hao Yuan later in May.
All of the programs will ultimately be listed here: https://www.law.berkeley.edu/research/bclt/asia-ip-project/
