Australian Law Firm Clayton Utz Clear From Coronavirus

The Australian Financial Review reports that the Clayton Utz staff member who triggered a shut down of the top-tier law firm’s Sydney office is no longer at risk of having coronavirus.

Workers were sent home from the firm’s headquarters in the signature office tower at 1 Bligh Street on Thursday after executives learned an employee had been indirectly exposed to the virus.

“The employee’s wife’s 95 year old grandmother passed away this week, and was found to have contracted COVID-19,” staff were told in an email yesterday.

“The employee’s wife is being tested; if the results are negative, the employee will not have been exposed.”

The Australian Financial Review can confirm that those test results were negative, meaning the crisis at the firm has passed for now.
