Australian Firms Says It’s First Antipodean Law Firm To Publish An App

We presume this must be the case as we haven’t seen any others? yet

Allens say that they are? the first major Australian law firm to launch an iPhone and iPad app. Phrase Buster, which is targeted at the student recruitment market, is now available for free download at Apple’s App Store.

The app requires users to unscramble well-known phrases in a range of categories, including the law. It includes information about Allens and a link to the firm’s website, which was this year recognised as the most-visited law firm website in Australia at the Hitwise Online Performance Awards.

Allens Web & Extranets Manager David Bradbury and Library Technician Ben Ross helped develop the app with Sydney-based company Zero 51.

‘This is the first app that the firm has built,’ Mr Bradbury said.

‘We wanted to try something different to a re-packaged, slimmed down, version of our website.

‘We also wanted to engage with the graduate market in a fun, unusual and challenging way, so we came up with the concept behind Phrase Buster.’

Allens Director of Marketing & Client Services, David McClune, said the firm is now working on other apps, which will further improve client service and simplify day-to-day operations.

‘The use and popularity of apps across a range of tablet and smart phone platforms is beginning to rival time spent on websites,’ Mr McClune said.

‘Allens is committed to moving with the technological times and is always looking out for opportunities to improve its offering to clients.’
