Everyday Justice is a philanthropic initiative of leading Australian law firm, Mills Oakley. It is a new national community legal service dedicated to providing free legal services to the “missing middle” – people who require legal assistance but who are ineligible for assistance from Legal Aid or other government funded services, and who cannot afford a lawyer without incurring substantial financial hardship.
As well as providing free legal services, Everyday Justice partners with the College of Law to offer an extensive internship program to practical legal training students located in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra and Perth. The internship program seeks to educate law graduates and newly qualified lawyers interested in pursuing careers in the social justice sector through its national internship program.
At our virtual launch you’ll hear from our keynote speaker, Reverend Tim Costello OA (Former CEO of World Vision Australia), as well as: ? John Nerurker (CEO of Mills Oakley) ? Lewis Patrick (Acting CEO and Chief Academic Officer of The College of Law) ? Luke Geary (Partner, Mills Oakley and Chairman, Everyday Justice Board) ? Q&A with Vera Visevic (Partner, Mills Oakley and Board member, Everyday Justice) Amy Burton (Managing Lawyer, Everyday Justice) and Lauren Stubbs (Associate Lawyer, Everyday Justice)
Through these speakers, you will learn more about Everyday Justice, including the firm’s work since opening its (virtual) doors in January 2021, its use of legal tech to make the service as efficient as possible, and a snapshot into our national internship program.
