The University Library Directorate includes the Dixson Library, the Law Library and the University’s
Archives and Heritage Centre. The University of New England Library has a long-standing reputation for
a scholarly collection and professional service excellence in contributing to the learning, teaching and
research directions of the University. The Library strengthens the University through leadership in
research skills development and scholarly communication. Specialised services are designed to support
the large population of online students, and study facilities in the libraries provide flexible learning
environments for on-campus students. The Heritage Centre is a regional repository for the State Records
Authority of New South Wales.
About the role
The role of Senior Researcher Services Librarian provides leadership for the development, management
and delivery of the Library’s services for researchers and Higher Degree Research students and is
responsible for providing appropriate advice to library staff on national and University research policies.
Skills & Experience
We are seeking an innovative, flexible and forward- thinking individual to lead a new team and to guide
and promote individual, professional and organisational developments to achieve library strategic goals.
The successful candidate should have:
demonstrated experience in developing and implementing services for researchers;
demonstrated understanding of existing and emerging issues and government and industry
policies impacting on researchers in a tertiary environment;
demonstrated ability to lead and manage change, excellent communication and interpersonal
skills and experience in leading and developing staff.
Applicants must also have a degree or postgraduate qualification, in library and information
services/management and be eligible for Associate membership of the Australian Library and
Information Association.
