Provide high-quality legal information and research services to Victoria Legal Aid staff and members of the public.
- Part time (0.8 FTE) ongoing position
- Salary range: $76,426 – $98,901 (pro rata) plus super plus salary packaging
- Up to $15,900 in salary packaging and hybrid WFH & office model
About the role
In this role, you will contribute to high-quality library and information services for VLA staff and members of the public. You will conduct legal and non-legal research, curate relevant collections of hard copy and online resources, and train clients to use these resources effectively. You will interpret and prioritize queries, assess information sources for currency, accuracy, authority, and relevance, and provide appropriate and timely responses to clients. Additionally, you will support continuous improvement of library resources, apply established information management principles, and promote library services throughout the organization.
This role is based at our Melbourne CBD office on Wurundjeri Country.
About you
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
- Client service – A strong commitment to client service and ability to interpret complex client information needs, with experience in the provision of excellent library reference and research services using a range of materials, including electronic retrieval resources. Commitment to process improvement and innovation in service delivery.
- Training – Demonstrated ability to deliver information skills and legal research training programs.
- Technical skills – Well developed cataloguing skills and the ability to process a range of library materials. A working knowledge of library classification and indexing principles and systems, and experience with library management systems.
- Promotions – Knowledge and experience in promotional activities centred around the provision of a reference and research service.

Required qualifications:
- Relevant degree or postgraduate diploma in information management or librarianship, or equivalent professional experience (mandatory)
- Experience in a law library and working knowledge of the Australian legal system (desirable)
