About the role
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (Cth) (CDPP) is seeking Librarians to join our Library and Services team to support the delivery of accurate and timely legal research services across the CDPP.
You will contribute to a high-quality legal research service by responding to research requests and have primary responsibility for managing a specific specialist area: systems, training or resources. The role also contributes to improving how the agency manages and shares knowledge by supporting information management practices and promoting the effective use of library systems and databases.
What we are looking for
We are looking for professionals who demonstrate knowledge and experience in delivery of library and/or knowledge management services in a public sector and or/legal environment.
At the APS6 level you will, in collaboration with colleagues, actively promote the national library and expand awareness and use of the resources available through the library service. The APS6 officers also support team capability and help ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery.
You will demonstrate the ability to take responsibility for work outcomes, provide guidance, and improve business processes. You will bring:
- in-depth legal research to support the information needs of the legal practice;
- capability to develop and maintain the local library collection and other library operations;
- ability to support the development and implementation of a knowledge management strategy and framework;
- confidence in engaging with stakeholders and providing timely and accurate legal research requests;
- administrative and library experience to support other stakeholders, at the direction of the Knowledge Coordinator; and
- experience in supporting or mentoring staff and contributing to a positive team culture.
The key duties of the position include:
In addition to meeting the Integrated Leadership System profile of the APS Level 6, primary outcomes and accountabilities for the Librarian will involve:
- undertaking in-depth legal research to support the information needs of the legal practice;
- managing the local library collection and other library operations as appropriate, as part of a national (and nationally consistent) library service;
- supporting the development and implementation of a knowledge management strategy and framework;
- developing and maintaining library resources, and communications to internal stakeholders;
- developing, supporting and managing internal and external stakeholder relationships including anticipating and responding to stakeholder needs and expectations;
- in collaboration with colleagues, actively promoting the national library service and expanding awareness and use of the resources available through the service;
- undertaking a range of administrative and library service activities to support other stakeholders at the direction of the Knowledge Coordinator;
- collaborating with relevant business areas and contributing to broader CDPP and APS objectives; and
- coordinating and undertaking one of the LRS specialist functions: Systems, Training or Resources.
Eligibility
- The ability to obtain and maintain AGSVA Baseline security clearance is required.
- Australian Citizenship.

Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualifications at degree or postgraduate level and eligibility for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association.
- Knowledge and experience with the delivery of a broad range of library and research services.
