Aussie Legal Tech Josef to operate in UK, Europe

Australian legal tech start-up Josef is broadening its presence to the United Kingdom and Europe, following two regional hires to spearhead customer growth.

Josef is expanding its operations into the UK and Europe, having hired London-based legal tech expert Sharan Kaur to lead its customer growth in the region. She joins as a head of sales for the UK, Europe, Middle East, and Africa.

The company has also appointed Berlin-based Johan Lundstedt as its head of sales operations.

The expansion comes a few months after Josef completed a $2.5 million funding round, led by Sydney’s Carthona Capital as well as US investor The LegalTech Fund, bringing the start-up’s total funding from $1 million to $3.5 million.

The news also follows Josef’s hiring of a new head of legal and operations, Prue Burns, a former national law firm partner and banking transformation leader. Ms Burns recently spoke with Lawyers Weekly about why she left the big end of town for a legal tech start-up.

The company has, in the past year, grown its UK customer base, it noted in a statement, to include global eSports brand Fnatic, multinational law firm Pinsent Masons, and The Open University.
