Australia-China Legal Profession Development (ACLPD) Program

2010

Selection Criteria
(incorporating criteria under the Australian Leadership Awards ? Fellowships)

Australia-China Legal Profession Development program specific criteria:

demonstrate a good level of English that is an IELTs score of at least 6.0 overall (with a score of not less than 6 for any component of the test);

have a graduate academic degree and, if a lawyer rather than legal administrator or government official, must have passed the national Judicial Examination;

have worked for the preceding 4 years in legal practice, legal administration or other relevant government position and a demonstrated area of legal specialty that is consistent with the priorities of the program

have the potential to be a future leader in China?s legal profession or other legal field (such as a government regulatory agency or law making body)

be able to research and work in his/her particular area of interest with limited supervision as necessary and be prepared to initiate, develop and
follow-up on contacts as appropriate.

show a capacity to benefit from the program within the time frame

General eligibility requirements for Fellows:

be a citizen of, and are residing in, an Australian Leadership Awards eligible country ie China (excluding Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR)

have been working in their country of citizenship for four years immediately preceding the date of their nomination

be able to take up the nominated Fellowship program at the time and for the duration proposed by the Australian organisations (the Law Council of Australia and the Australian Attorney-General?s Department)
